Yuba Mfg. Co.
The Ball Tread Company started out at Detroit, Michigan in 1912. Their first model was a 12-25 crawler. Its unique feature was that the tracks rode on a group of large steel balls, much like an oversized ball bearing. Yuba Construction Company bought out Ball Tread in 1914, and continued building the 12-25 and 18-35 models. In 1918, the company name was changed to Yuba Manufacturing company. Several Yuba models were built during the years. The largest was a 40-70 offered in 1919. Yuba was listed in the tractor directories for the last time in 1931.

When Yuba took over the Ball Tread Company, they inherited two models — the “ 12” and the “ 18” . As a stationary plant the smaller tractor developed 10 horsepower, and larger one put out 25 BHP. Both had two forward speeds. The Model 18 distributed 7,400 pounds on the tracks, with the remaining 1,500 pounds on the tiller wheel; while the Model 12 had a total weight of 7,600 pounds. This series was designated as the Yuba “Champion” tractors.
